Other Information: During WWII Ellison flew with the 237th Bomb Squadron flying B-17s. He flew as captain of the Woolaroc aircraft named after the airplane that won the 1927 Trans-Pacific Air Race. Ellison participated in secret tests with the YB-40 B-17 aircraft that was a bomber that had been converted to a gunship to act as escort against fighter aircraft on bombing missions. Ellioson completed his 25 Missions with the 8th Air Force before returning to the USA to participate in Bond Drives until his discharge in 1945. After the war, Ellison went into the oil and gas business and organized the Miles Production Company and later joined with two other business associates to form the Trio Drilling Company. Ellison continued in the oil and gas business in the Texas area through until his death in 2004.
